My work reflects the real, ephemeral, and involuntary actions that glorify life’s overlooked moments. Scenes layered with movement, color, icons, and history break cyclical pop culture fads by fetishizing reality and highlighting our shared heritage. In the midst of worldly turmoil, nostalgia for a “simpler” time is easily embraced. Inveigled by advertisements made during the 1950’s and 1960’s, my color choices are used to evoke notions of familiarity and comfort. The union of scale, pop art compositions, and figures grab the viewer’s attention and urge contemplation of contemporary social and cultural dilemmas.
